Conserve economic & environmental resource value.

Protect public health.

steward resources.

Nature Based Solutions repairs, remediates, and installs economically and environmentally responsible wastewater infrastructure. These proven, effective, aesthetically attractive systems protect environmental functions, property values, and public health. These systems shore up fiscal vulnerability and support economic and environmental well-being.

Nature Based Solutions systems have a significantly lower carbon footprint than other legally approved systems, and in some areas are eligible for tax credits and subsidies. Contact us today to discuss financing resources and options in your area.

Economic impact

Tourism Value

Tourism economies thrive in places with a reputation for safety and natural beauty. Beach vacations, fish restaurants, and lucrative outdoor adventure packages all rely on functioning natural resources. Poorly managed wastewater destroys the natural bounty these economies rely on. Proper infrastructure protects the value of the existing resources, and creates conditions for effective restoration of lost and damaged resources.

Drought-Proofing

Drought impacts agricultural production and revenue, and creates economic losses in every sector. 80% of wastewater is left untreated (IUCN 2017). This critically unreclaimed resource has massive revenue potential, both direct and in reduction of future production loss. Wasted water can be treated to agricultural reuse standards, as our tested system proves.

Circular economy

Local financial resources should yield local financial stability and prosperity. Circular economies keep the value in your community Our design uses local, natural inputs, such as wood chips made from invasive species. It calls for planting locally-sourced native species. We work with local contractors to create jobs. Nature Based Solutions practices support local, circular economies and resilient ecosystems.

resource value

Protecting the natural bounty supporting tourism and agriculture makes sound economic sense. There’s no sense or value in wasted water.

Exceeds performance standards

Our system well exceeds successful performance requirements for treating wastewater.

NSF40 Class I effluent performance requires that 30-consecutive-day mean effluent concentration of CBOD5 and TSS be no greater than 25 mg/L and 30 mg/L, respectively; mean values of CBOD5 and TSS for any 7-consecutive days cannot be greater than 40 mg/L and 45 mg/L, respectively; and effluent pH remains between the limits of 6.0 and 9.0.

The NSF245 standard requires that the average of all samples provide at least 50% removal of total nitrogen (TN).

Evaluation of our system yielded effluent CBOD5 averaged 19 mg/L (6 mg/L better than required), effluent TSS averaged 6 mg/L (39 mg/l better than required), and pH averaged 7.6 (precisely balanced).

Our system total nitrogen removal averaged 87% (37% better than required) and 83% total phosphorus removal another key pollutant of concern.

Environmental & Public Health

healthy communities

Our families and communities live with the effects of our local infrastructure. Whether the source of nutrient pollution is public wastewater facilities, major business, or neighborhood residences, we all benefit from the same protection and suffer from the same health risks. We can protect the health of our families and communities by keeping our waters clean. Nature Based Solutions protect drinking water safety and quality as well as improve water safety in recreation beaches and swimming areas. We all deserve clean water to live, work, and play.

healthy Ecosystems

The difference between healthy and pressured coastal ecosystems is in the water. Clean water with balanced nutrient loads give coral reefs a chance to recover and allow wildlife to thrive. Balancing human populations with thriving wildlife requires efficient, resilient green infrastructure. We have developed a wastewater treatment system that is entirely based on natural processes.

Nature based solutions work. By leveraging the power of nature, we can protect community health, restore ecosystems, and build a future resilient to climate change.
